Materials I use
As a weft, i.e. the visible horizontal thread, I typically use cotton. Cotton does not stretch and is an ideal material for beginners. For larger placemats I use fine cotton, for smaller mug rugs I use thicker cotton or a mix of cotton and linen. Most recently, I have been experimenting with pure linen for the mug rugs.
