About me

My name is Ruzi and I have been living in Switzerland for almost twenty years. I became intrigued by weaving in 2023 after we visited a textile museum in Neuthal in the canton of Zurich, a place which used to be a cotton processing factory.

I started weaving on a smaller loom in 2024 after we moved to Herisau, a town in the eastern Switzerland which has a long history of textile processing. My original idea was to recreate old-style IKEA placemats (in German Tischset) which my husband owned and which I have meanwhile grown fond of. A nice textile celebrates the food on your plate! It took almost two years until I was able to make a proper placemat as my first attempts ended up in the infamous hourglass shape.

Now that I have a better feeling for the tension of the material, I have started working on a variety of patterns. I very much like the Navajo and Krokbragd style of weaving.
